Every Spring for the last 4-5 years I've made the trek over to Tucson Arizona to photograph the hummingbirds at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
March/April is the best time of year because it's when the babies are born, and it's the only time of year when the flowers are all in bloom.
This year was especially enjoyable. There were three nexts in the aviary, and I was fortunate enough to witness a mommy hummingbird feeding her two babies. Even better, I witnessed one of the babies stand up on the edge of the next and beat it's wings! It was so amazing, I thought the little guy was going to jump. But, he thought better of it, and settled back into the nest. It was almost like witnessing a baby taking it's first steps.
